Chatham Youth Soccer Heat/Humidex Policy for Youth Teams
CYSA uses the Environment Canada Predicted Humidex Reading when deciding if soccer will be cancelled due to high temperatures. The decision to cancel games is made by the respective Leagues. The decision to cancel practices is made by the Team Coach.
U4 to U10 On the day of the program, recreational or representative practice or recreational game,
if the temperature is between 30-35 deg. C and the humidex is below 40, then there is an enforced 2 min. water break after each period and the time of the periods are reduced from 10 min. to 8 min. However if the temperature is greater than 35 deg. C. and the humidex is predicted to be equal to or greater than 40, three hours prior your event, it will be cancelled. There will be no re-scheduling of programs, practices or games.
U11 to U17 On the day of your program, recreational or representative practice or recreational game, if the temperature is between 30-38 deg. C and the humidex is below 40, then there is an enforced 2 min. water breaks during each half. However, if the temperature is 38 deg and above and the humidex is predicted to be equal to or greater than 45 three hours prior your event, the game will be cancelled. There will be no re-scheduling of any practices.
Time permitting, games will be re-scheduled.

Adult Leagues: If the temperature is between 30-38 deg. C and the humidex is below 40, coaches and referees should get together before the game begins and agree to play 4 shortened quarters instead of 2 halves. This will allow for extra water breaks. If the temperature is above 38 deg. C and the humidex is predicted to be greater than 45 three hours before the game, the game will be cancelled.
Games can be rescheduled.
CYSA reserves the right to modify this policy for its Festivals and Tournaments. Notification of Program Cancellation due to High Humidex will be emailed to participants three hours prior to the event. When in doubt, check your email (including Spam) and/or the Environment Canada website. At any time, if you have any concerns regarding the weather conditions, please do what you feel is best for your child.

The Chatham Youth Soccer Association, subject to, Ontario Soccer and local health unit guidelines, is continuing registration, for those divisions where openings exist. Should an application be rejected, contact CYSA_registrar@bell.net to be entered at a waiting list.

The CYSA uses Power up Sports software to process on-line registrations and payment (Visa, MasterCard credit cards only), and to recruit volunteers, and referees. If you don’t have access to a computer or credit card, no problem, contact the club at email, CYSA_registrar@bell.net to set up an in-person registration.
Using the on-line registration is easy and takes about 10 minutes. A parent or Guardian (must be 18 yrs of age or older) will create a profile account, using a valid email address, telephone number and password. Once the account is setup (1 per family) you can continue or log out and come back any time to add players, add additional parents/guardians, volunteer, or edit your profile. And don’t forget to check the box to subscribe to our email list, to receive important announcements regarding the upcoming season.
Volunteers are an essential part of the CYSA. The club relies on enthusiastic parent and youth volunteers to coach and convene our house league teams. We will provide you with the support and resources you will need. We hope that while using the on-line registration program, you will click the Volunteer Now button on the left-hand side of the home page, to indicate an interest in becoming a Team Official (coach or co-coach), Game Official (referee) or Convenor

Registration rates for 2022 will remain as per 2021 fee schedule
U4 – U5 – U6 (Born 2016 – 2017 – 2018) $100.00
U7 – U18 (Born 2015 – 2004) $140.00
Senior (Born 2003 – & before) $160.00
For players selected to a competitive team, there will be a -$75.00 surcharge-, Revised, April 16, 2022
If the program is canceled or suspended for COVID-19 health reasons, or by governing bodies, we remain committed to our financial obligations, and can not guarantee a refund.
Once you have registered, you may cancel your registration at anytime, and if prior to April 30, you will receive a full refund, less a $35.00 administration fee.
If canceling between April 30 and May 28, you will receive a refund of 50% from the registration fee.
For request received starting May 28th, there will be no refunds awarded.
It is the responsibility of the parent/guardian/player to request a refund.
